NALC William C. Doherty Scholarship – 4000

Sponsored by the National Association of Letter Carriers in honor of its president from 1941 to 1962, the William C. Doherty Scholarship Fund awards five scholarships of $4,000 each to children of members in good standing.

NALC John T. Donelon Scholarship – 1000

A scholarship for sons and daughters of NALC members honoring the late John T. Donelon, longtime assistant to three NALC national presidents, was announced in 2003. Donelon’s wife Louise established the Donelon Scholarship as a bequest in her will.

The $1,000 scholarship is renewable for four years..


NALC Costas G. Lemonopoulos Scholarship Trust – Varies

The Costas G. Lemonopoulos Scholarship Trust awards scholarships to children of NALC members attending public, four-year colleges or universities supported by the state of Florida or St. Petersburg Junior College (no private colleges or universities and no other junior colleges). Scholarships are renewable one time.

The trust was established in 1985 by the late Costas G. Lemonopoulos, a retired letter carrier and member of West Coast Florida Branch 1477 in St. Petersburg.


Dell Scholars – Varies

While many students dream of obtaining a college degree, life sometimes gets in the way – particularly for those dealing with personal responsibilities at home or in their communities. The Michael & Susan Dell Foundation created the Dell Scholars program with the understanding that it takes more than financial help to support students to college graduation. From the start, Dell Scholars was designed as a college completion program that offers support services that go beyond a scholarship check.

CIA Undergraduate Scholarship – 18000

This scholarship is a financial needs-based program for graduating high school seniors, first-year undergraduate students and, in some cases, second-year undergraduate students who are looking to work summers in Washington, DC while attending an accredited college or university during the school year.

In this program, you will perform meaningful work related to your college major. In addition to a year-round salary, recipients are provided up to $18,000 in tuition assistance per calendar year, and are eligible for health insurance, paid time off and more.

Undergraduate scholarship participants are required to work for at least two 90-day sessions before graduation and be employed by the CIA after graduation for a period of 1.5 years for each year of paid scholarship.


CIA Graduate Scholarship – Varies

This scholarship is a financial need-based program for graduate students who are looking to work summers in Washington, DC while attending an accredited college or university during the school year. It is open to students entering graduate school, current graduate students and doctoral students.

In this program, you will perform meaningful work related to your college major. In addition to a year-round salary, recipients are provided up to $18,000 in tuition assistance per calendar year and are eligible for health insurance, paid time off and more.

Graduate scholarship participants are required to work for at least one 90-day session before graduation and be employed by the CIA after graduation for a period of 1.5 years for each year of paid scholarship.


The Jack and Jill of America Foundations National Scholarship Program – 2250

The Jack and Jill of America Foundation is committed to the ongoing positive development of African American youth and the development of future leaders.

The Jack and Jill of America Foundation’s National Scholarship Program is available to high school seniors who will become and maintain full-time status at an accredited, four year post secondary institution beginning in the fall of the year working toward a bachelor’s degree.


Chester M. Vernon Memorial Eagle Scout Scholarship Program – 1000

The recipient of the Chester M. Vernon Memorial Eagle Scout Scholarship will receive a $1,000 scholarship per year for four years. Applicants must demonstrate financial need.

Rick Arkans Eagle Scout Scholarship Program – 1000

The recipient of this scholarship will receive a one-time $1,000 scholarship. Applicants must demonstrate financial need

Frank L. Weil Memorial Eagle Scout Scholarship Program – 3000

The recipient will receive a $1,000 scholarship. Two second-place scholarship awards will be given in the amount of $500 each.

NESA Academic Cooke Scholarship – 48000

Beginning with a donation of $1 million in 1984, former Texas governor, William P. Clements Jr., established the Eagle Scout Scholarship Fund. At its inception, the gift funded $90,000 in scholarships.

More recently, the fund has grown to award $690,000 in scholarships. (That is a slight increase from 2015-2016 where NESA awarded $665,000 in scholarships.) Growth in the Eagle Scout Scholarship Fund can be attributed to NESA membership fees as well as generous donations.

Emmett J. Doerr Memorial Distinguished Scout Scholarship – 5000

To honor Mr. Emmett J. Doerr, who was a dedicated Catholic Scouter and a very active member of the National Catholic Committee on Scouting (NCCS). He was the first recipient of the Brother Barnabas Founders Award. His other honors include the Silver Antelope, Silver Beaver, and the St. George medals. The Doerr family and the NCCS are continuing his legacy by offering this scholarship in his name to seven (7) distinguished Catholic Scouts.

Eastern Orthodox Scouting Scholarship – 1000

The Eastern Orthodox Committee on Scouting offers up to two $1000 scholarships each year. We select applicants who best demonstrate love of God and the Orthodox Christian Faith through service, scholarship, leadership, and practical citizenship in their church, school, Scouting unit, and community. Scholarships are contingent upon acceptance to an accredited four-year college or university.

NESA World Explorer Scholarship Eagle Scout Amazon Biologist – Varies

These awards vary by opportunity, but cover majority of costs such as travel, lodging, and registration for select NESA World Explorer field research trips.
NESA World Explorer field research trips are conducted around the globe over the course of 1 to 2 weeks.

NESA and the BSA’s STEM Initiative have selected Eagle Scouts to participate in field experiments at the Tiputini Biodiversity Station (TBS) in the eastern Ecuador Amazon rainforest. The program has been highly successful and will be offered again this year. This is a spectacular opportunity to experience different biological disciplines!

NESA and the BSA’s STEM Initiative have selected Eagle Scouts to participate in several field experiments for the past five years. The NESA Ornithology opportunity allows Eagles to work with the iconic Bald Eagle led by a major ornithological expert.


NESA World Explorer Scholarship Eagle Scout Paleontologist – Varies

NESA World Explorer field research trips are conducted around the globe over the course of 1 to 2 weeks.

Through the BSA’s STEM Initiative, NESA selects Eagle Scouts to participate in field experiments in exotic places. The Paleontologist program represents a new addition to existing programs and will be offered this year to Eagles. This program is a 1 week internship. This will allow the Eagles to be immersed in paleontology and designed to provide field experience as a basis for undergraduate or graduate work in paleontology.


Arthur M. and Berdena King Eagle Scout Scholarship – 10000

The National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) invites all Eagle Scouts interested in the American Revolution to participate in the Arthur M. & Berdena King Eagle Scout Contest.The contest is open to all Eagle Scouts who are currently registered in an active unit and, except as provided in the paragraph below, have not reached their nineteenth birthday during the year of application.The year that the Eagle rank was awarded is not restricted.
