Hawaii Filipino Chronicle Scholarship
The Hawaii Filipino Chronicle is offering a $2,500+ journalism/mass communications/media scholarship to an incoming freshman, sophomore, junior or non-graduating senior of Filipino heritage attending a four-year university in Hawaii.
ELIGIBILITY Filipino heritage U.S. citizen Hawaii high school graduate (as of summer 2019) Full-time college student (at least 12 credits undergraduate) enrolled as an incoming freshman, sophomore, junior or non-graduating senior at an accredited four-year public or private college/university in Hawaii by the 2019 fall semester Journalism, mass communications or media-related major 3.0 cumulative GPA (on 4.0 scale) APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS Please send the following to email@example.com by the Aug. 10 deadline. Completed application form (download HERE) Copy of recent high school or college transcript (finalists may send official transcripts later for verification) Two references (download two forms HERE; referrers may email them directly to firstname.lastname@example.org) Three samples of journalistic writing (may email attachments or weblinks) Essay (details on the application form) One winner will be selected by the scholarship committee and notified by the end of August/early September. The winner will be profiled in an article with his/her essay published in a fall edition of the Chronicle. Plus…the winner may receive an additional $1,000 for his/her remaining academic years by maintaining a 3.0 GPA!
